Scope Requirements Recorded Name Modify the Recorded Name in the Manager Portal

Scope

Intended Audience: White Label Partners, or Tier 1 Technicians & higher

Recorded Name is a type of greeting which contains the Full Name of the User. You can hear this when you include the user in the Audio Directory of the Auto Attendant. This article will show you how to setup and manage them.

Requirements

  • Office Manager & higher access to the Manager Portal

Recorded Name

By default, a directory uses last names (e.g. "Welcome to the company directory. Please dial the first three digits of the last name of the person you wish to reach.").

Example: When the caller pressed 363 in the Last Name directory. They should hear "For John Doe, press 1". The Recorded Name part is "John Doe"

New users are automatically configured with a computer-generated recorded name. However, not having a recorded name or having misspelled (or missing) name are two of the most common directory issues due to:

  • User's names were changed to a new name
  • Extension was not recycled. Please see our Reset and Recycle a User doc
  • The name of the user was originally misspelled when the extension was created

Modify the Recorded Name in the Manager Portal

If you already changed the User's name and you could not Reset or Recycle the extension due to them being set up already, then you can just modify the Recorded Name to avoid confusion with the Directory by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Users tab
  2. Click on any user's profile
  3. Click on the Voicemail tab
  4. Scroll down to the Greetings and Manage Recorded Name
  5. Choose between TTS, Upload, and Record
  6. When finished click save, the user's Recorded Name has now been updated!
