Event Summary
On August 19, 2026, inbound and outbound faxing on the NativeFax platform began failing. The fax server was restored the same evening but failed twice more on August 20. After multiple unsuccessful restarts, we engaged our fax service vendor, FaxBack, whose engineers determined a server upgrade was needed. Our Core Services Engineer performed the upgrade alongside FaxBack, restoring service the evening of August 20. The incident was marked as resolved on August 21 following sustained stability.

Root Cause
At approximately 3:21 PM ET on August 19, the fax port service on the NativeFax server stopped running, causing inbound and outbound faxes to fail. Restarting the service and rebooting the server restored functionality only temporarily, with the port service failing again within hours. Working with FaxBack, it was determined that a server upgrade was required to resolve the recurring port service failures. Once applied, faxing was restored and remained stable.

Impact Summary

  • NativeFax Inbound & Outbound Fax Service Outage: approximately 6.5 hours of cumulative customer impact across three separate failure events between August 19–20.
  • All end users on the NativeFax platform were unable to send or receive faxes during the affected windows.
