Download SIPTAPI Installing SIPTAPI (32 bit Windows) Installing SIPTAPI (64 bit Windows) Add TAPI Provider Removing Country Code to process calls through 10-digit Rule Testing

Scope:  

The Windows Operating System includes TAPI as an abstraction layer that allows applications to initiate calls using a standard programming interface. It can be used by applications such as Microsoft Outlook, ConnectWise and many CRMs to initiate calls from inside the program.

 

Requirements:

  • Windows Computer 
     
  • SIP Credentials 
     
  • Access to Manager Portal
 

 

Download SIPTAPI

  1. Using any web browser, download SIPTAPI from http://sourceforge.net/projects/siptapi/files/

Installing SIPTAPI (32 bit Windows)

  1. Unzip the download and copy siptapi.tsp into c:\windows\system32
  2. Reboot your computer.

Installing SIPTAPI (64 bit Windows)

  1. Unzip the download and copy siptapi.tsp into c:\windows\system32
  2. Copy siptapi.tsp into c:\windows\syswow64
  3. Reboot your computer.

Add TAPI Provider

  1. Open Control Panel on your Computer.
  2. Click on Phone and Modem.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab
  4. Select SIPTAPI Service Provider from the list. Your specific version number may vary.
    1. If you don't see SIPTAPI on this list then click on Add
    2. Highlight SIPTAPI Service Provider and click on Add once more
  5. Click Configure.
  6. On the next screen fill out the following:
    1. SIP Domain: SIP domain
    2. SIP Outbound Proxy:  sbc.ucaasnetwork.com
    3. User: SIP User
    4. Password: SIP Password
    5. User's extension (optional): The extension you would like to ring when you dial from an application. The does not have to be the same as above
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click OK.

Removing Country Code to process calls through 10-digit Rule

It will now process calls without adding 1. This will route the call through 10 digit rule and pass the user caller ID info to the dialed number.

  1. On Outlook (if applicable), uncheck "Automatically add country/region code..".
  2. If you are using Dialer, go to Tools > Dialing properties.
  3. Edit the Default (example: my location).
  4. Configure Country to United States and area code to 1.
  5. Click Apply then OK.

Testing

You are now ready to test calling from Windows.
  1. Click Start.
  2. Type Dialer.
  3. Enter the number you want to call and click Dial.
  4. Your phone will ring. Once you answer you will be connected to the number you dialed.
